I’m Back…….For Now

I’ve been gone for weeks, my third post since the year has started. Yes, I miss this place, my space. So, I’ve been up to a lot the past two and a half months. My father is getting better but unfortunately he has to have the shook to his heart to get it back on rhythm. This is the thing that can happen when you have the flu. My father is a relatively healthy man for his age, 60, and hasn’t ever had any problems with his heart. The doctor even commented on him having a strong heart. It’s just scary to think that one day you can have the flu and the nice day you are laying on a hospital bed with an arrhythmic heartbeat. It’s crazy. But, I know he will get better, I can feel it.
Hair Problems
A couple of weeks ago I decided to straighten my hair for the week. Boy that was a big mistake. Because I have only straighten my hair once before it never really took. What I mean is it kind of puffed up at the ends. I had a huge problem with the ends of my hair. No matter how many times I was going over it with the hot comb a couple of hours later it would get puffy and it wasn’t even humid outside. My mom suggested that I go to a hairstylist, but that costs a lot of money that I wasn’t willing to spend at the time. I’m more of a do it yourselfer. One day I will have it professionally straightened but right now I’m keeping my curly fro. Check out the pictures that I did get of my hair.

The Universoul Circus
In January my family and I attended the Universoul Circus for the first time ever. The Universoul Circus is a circus composed of mostly black performers from all around the world. When I say all around the world I mean it. These talented people come from Africa, The Caribbean, France, Russia, China, and the United States. It’s the same as any other circus except this circus comes with a whole lot of Soul. There was the standard circus performers; clowns, acrobats, trapeze artists, tightrope walkers, jugglers, stunts, and animals, with hip hop dancing, singing, and audience participation thrown in. the show was simply amazing, nothing I have ever seen before. At first I didn’t want to go because I am not a big fan of animals or circuses in general. Went to one when I was a kid and didn’t like it, but, I decided to give this one a try and I am glad I did. Four hours of fun, cliché I know. The tickets are very inexpensive and well worth the money. Not only that, they brought out a special guest host, someone that I had a crush on when I was little. Carl Anthony Payne! If the name doesn’t sound familiar then maybe Cole from Martin does. Still not familiar, then you missed some good 90s television. Yes, Cole from Martin was the guest host. I couldn’t believe it. I got to shake his hand after the show and he is still an attractive man, at least to me. He has slimmed down a little as well. Back to the show; I highly recommend this show to anyone, young and old. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. P.S. I recommend the last show of the night as they sometimes have two shows a day. When you go to the last show of the night you get extra. Check them out here

Lion Country Safari

My brother’s girlfriend birthday was in earlier this month, so my brother wanted to do something nice for her. We all went out to a place in West Palm called Lion Country Safari. Lion Country Safari is a drive through zoo consisting of wild animals. My brother’s girlfriend absolutely loves animals so it was something she always wanted to do. We had so much fun joking and laughing while driving through the “zoo”. What I learned while there; Ostriches don’t seem to like cars because they come up to the cars, yell at them, and sometimes block the cars from moving. Yes, every car that passed by the Ostriches got a mouth full. Plus, they are the only animals invading the other animal’s space. Rhinos aren’t just huge on television they are freaking huge in person. We were warned not to get the cars too close to them because they would damage the car with one touch. Monkeys don’t like water and mischievous and therefore they are on an island by themselves so they won’t car the cars. The lions are too wild to be walking free so they were the only animals caged. Giraffes are probably the only animal that is safe to feed (in a controlled environment). I fed a Giraffe and I liked it. We had a really good time and I would recommend it to anyone. So, that is some of the crazy things I have been doing the past two months. Hope everyone is well and have a safe St. Patrick’s Day.

Note: Did you all know that St. Patrick or Patricius (real name Maewyn Succat) is actually Scottish? Okay, that is the teacher in me coming out.

  1. I bet the Universoul circus is a blast. I’ve never been, but maybe ill try next time it comes around my area. I didn’t know “Cole” was hosting it…..and those who may not know him from ‘Martin’ may remember him as “Cockroach” from ‘The Cosby Show’….if still drawing a blank, that’s kinda sad. LOL

I don’t know what to tell you about the hair thing. The few times I’ve done it, I had the same problem with the ends. To me it looked like my ends were jacked and damaged.

The zoo trip looks fun. The last time I went to the zoo, the giraffes could reach up over the fencing and accept leaves to eat out of the hands of visitors. I like them…they seem so docile and sweet but I’m sure they can have a mean side like any other animal.
